But the eagle shot above with the 50-135 COMPELLED me to finally leave a comment. Truly spectacular, like so many of your others.

Please click on the images to see larger versions. It was a beautiful, misty sunrise at Mt. Vernon (Skagit Valley) today.  A few of the fields have begun to bloom, and the scenery looked spectacular with Mt. Barbara Youngleson: Are you sure these aren't images from the Floriade in the Netherlands? Creative "down low" perspective. Lovely!

Smith Tower Sunset: Pentax K-5, Pentax DA* 16-50mm f/2.8

Please click on the image to see a larger version. I found myself walking down Yesler Way last evening.  The clouds dispersed a little bit and some nice light broke through from behind Smith Tower.  Luckily I had my camera and tripod with me.  The above image was probably taken around 7:30 pm, about 1/2 hr before sunset.  Notice the paucity of cars in the street…a benefit of taking this shot after daylight savings has kicked in.  The sun sets so late, everyone has already gone home after the work day.

Mike Turner: Amazing light!

Moon Over Boston: Pentax K-5, Pentax DA* 16-50mm f/2.8

Please click on the images to see larger versions. I’m in Boston this week, attending a conference.  For the first few days, it seemed as though I brought the Seattle weather with me.  However, yesterday evening was beautiful, and I photographed the city’s skyline and some areas of the nearby MIT campus.  I hope you enjoy the images.

Details: Pentax K-5, Pentax DA* 50-135mm f/2.8

Justin: Mahesh, Great pictures from Boston. In the first picture you note having used the DA* 18-50 f/2.8 lens. Which lens is this? I'm not familiar with it. Again, great shots...you really know how to use that wide angle!

--> Mahesh: Justin, thanks! My mistake. The lens is DA* 16-50 (not 18-50). I've made the correction.

Kalpana: beautiful!

David Guidas: Great shots all around. I really like the color in the second boat photo and the composition of the "Boston Evening" dock shot. Well done!

Steve: Having grown up in one of the Boston suburbs, I'm embarrassed to say that I never knew it was so beautiful. Great pictures

Rachael: The headstone shots are really great! I also love the 2 boat and dock shots. I can smell the baked beans now.

Needle in a Blossom Stack: Pentax K-5, Pentax 18-135mm f/3.5.5.6ED AL IF DC WR

Please click on the images to see larger versions. It’s that time of year again.  Early April, and the cherry blossoms are our in full force at UW’s main campus.  If anyone wants to see these blossoming beauties, now is the best time.  I hope you enjoy this year’s pickin’s.

Pretty in Pink: Pentax K-5, Pentax 18-135mm f/3.5.5.6ED AL IF DC WR

Small Blossoms: Pentax K-5, Pentax 18-135mm f/3.5.5.6ED AL IF DC WR

paullu: Great photos! I noticed you're using the Pentax quite a bit; have you fully transitioned, or do you still plan on using the Canon from time to time.

--> Mahesh: Thanks, Paul! Nope, I still use all my cameras. Pentax, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic. I do like the K-5 very much, however. The sensor has fantastic dynamic range and the lenses are quite sharp.

Barb Michieli: Brings back memories of my graduate school days! Just gorgeous!!

Dinesh: I used to go running in that quad. Thanks Mahesh!

Bev: Beautiful, and I never knew those were all blossoming cherries.

Hanna: What time of the day did you take these photos? Very nice. Was it morning?

Fine: Mahesh, They are not cherry blossoms. Can you tell me what those trees are? Thank you

--> Mahesh: Thanks, everyone! Hanna, I took these very early morning on a Sunday. Fine, I don't know what blossoms these are. Everyone here just refers to them as, "cherry blossoms."
